Ground Breaking....Samford Family Style

Yes, we're odd, but I think my family has always been considered a little odd, so we embrace it!

My parents are getting ready to embark on the journey that is building a house with their son-in-law (Seth) designing and building it. If that's not a recipe for family disaster, I don't know what is! :-) Kidding! Anyway, the building process is about to get started so we had a "Ground Breaking" photo op today.

Ava was working hard with her shovel!

Reese surveyed the grounds for us.

She was working so hard the poor baby cut her cheek!

Jacob Sisters - my mom made these cute sweaters for them. Brightened up the brown around us!

More house and baby progress to come!

Cole's Shower!

On Sunday we had my sister Nicole's shower. I had hyped up the shower to Ava all morning and she kept talking about how she was going to go to "Cole's Shower". As the shower went on during the day, Ava kept saying, "I go Cole's shower" and I would say, we're at Cole's shower, and it would be a back and forth debate about her going to Cole's shower. As you will see from one of the pics below, the shower didn't have much of an impact on her, she was looking for something better apparently!

The lovely Aunt Cole, just weeks away! I made her hold the animal balloon....I don't know why

Nicole's sister-in-law Kristen (shower co-host) made this adorable diaper cake

Some decor from the day (Giant animal balloons can benefit any party!)

Soon to be Grandma Davis and Bebe (we'll see if baby Davis calls my mom by that)

The diaper bag that my mom and I made for Nicole

Ava painting her toes while Nicole opens gifts (can't be bothered by gifts if they are not for her)

Reese was entertained by the balloons ALL day. Here she is with Great-Grandma James

Can't wait for the day I get to post my new nephew's pic on the blog! I've been anxiously waiting my turn to be the crazy aunt at the hospital! :-)

Reese's Favorite Snack!

What is Reese's favorite snack these days you might ask? Well, I'm sure this is something I shouldn't blog about, but I'm going to anyway. Reese's favorite snack is.....DOG FOOD!!!

This little girl knows just how much it grosses me out when she puts it in her mouth, and does it just to spite me! She finds so much joy in waiting for me to find her by the dog food, she puts it in her mouth when she knows I'm watching and runs away squealing and laughing.

Don't worry, when she thinks I'm NOT looking she spits out and it's Parker to the rescue! :-)

Life of a Nastics Star!

Some of you know that Ava is taking a gymnastics class for the next couple of months. Ava is not the best at pronunciation and calls it "nastics". She loves it so much and gets so excited! So excited that we can't talk about it until right before we are leaving, otherwise she gets upset that she is not going.

Last night she had her 4th class. Let's just say that last night I was that mom that you would see, and think, wow, I'm glad I'm not her! Normally, these little 2 year olds go through a little obstacle course of mats, trampolines, slides and the balance beam. Ava decided she couldn't be bothered with the equipment. She squealed and ran up and down the gym while the other kids did what they were suppose to. Then, she would decide that she would get back in line, but when she would get to one end, she would take off squealing out of the gym and actually did laps in the building where we have class. As she would go running by with me chasing after her, the parents in the hall would give me that look like, oh, sorry for you, glad it's not me!

To end the class she decided instead of jumping over the cones, she was going to pick each one up and throw it across the gym. And, instead of jumping over the hula hoops on the ground, she was going to pick it up, try and hula hoop, and actually sing "Shake your booty"! What??? I asked her if she said "shake your booty" and her response in a loud yell was "SHAKE YOUR BOOTY!"

Oh the life of a "nastics" star! This girl has Olympian written all over her! :-)

At some point pictures will be posted!

Just like Mommy!

When we had Ava, Seth's boss, Russell gave us books called Just Like Mommy and Just Like Daddy. Every page has an action and then it ends with "just like Mommy" or "just like Daddy". This weekend Ava and I could add our own page to that.

"I get electric toys stuck in my hair, just like mommy!"

When I was in grade school I had a stomper truck and I decided to run it through my hair. Needless to say my hair got wound up all over the wheels and my mom had to cut it out.

Ava's version of the toy is a giant M&M fan thing that we bought her! We did have to cut it out, but no worries, you can't tell at all.

Here it is just hanging in the breeze!

Never a Dull Moment!

Here are a few pictures from the last couple weeks.

The girls had a vacation day with daddy, here they are trying to hide from daddy. Reese looks like she didn't want to be found.

Ava getting in the "baby" crib

Reese getting mad that she has to share the space, and Ava picking her nose?

Ava right after she dumbed a box of honeycomb on the table

Reese then took the bag and dumped the crumbs on her head. Parker played an integral part in the clean up! :-)
